Often our gardens and orchards are affected by gruesome attacks from ants, slugs or mites. Often the most frequent solution is to buy a pesticide to save the crop or opt for organic treatment.
Once we have chosen the most appropriate fruit, many other important issues come to mind for maintenance of the fruit tree organically. We, at Enviro Selects, intend to help you solve this problem by giving you useful advice on planting, pruning, disease prevention, spraying and pests.
1. It all starts with the preparation of the land
For the fruit plantation to be a success organically, it is better to be a little thoughtful and prepare a month in advance to make a hole of at least 1 m in diameter and 80 cm deep. In the initial years, it is necessary to fix the fruit tree. Later, it would be convenient to place the frame or guard before filling the holes or ditches made with soil to mull the ground and improve its quality and aeration.
2. Planting of fruit trees from a pot
The appropriate time for planting a fruit tree is one when there are no frost risks that prevent the sprouting and formation of new roots.
3. Winter pruning
One of the most important maintenance tasks in obtaining a good harvest that most people don’t realize is pruning. It is compulsory for the trees already expanding every 4 or 5 years, since it is a way to rejuvenate the tree and favour the formation of new shoots. The best time to perform this task is in November when the tree is entering a vegetative state.
Fruit trees are the crops that consume the most nutrients. So during the springtime when fruits begin to form, you must add abundant organic matter with manure, compost or earthworm humus in the fertilizer. It should be applied at the root of the tree to the vertical of the branches, at the end of winter immediately before the fruit formation begins.
This practice helps us consider the application of organic padding. It is a layer of at least 5 cm deep, of straw, mowed grass or pine bark, which when distributed at the foot of the tree will limit the growth of weeds. It also retains beneficial moisture level for surface roots. It is recommended to use Biosafe weed control.
6. Preventive treatments
When the tree is at rest during the autumn-winter, the leaves have already fallen, and the buds begin to break, it is time to apply treatments such as BioSafe Disease Control. It is to eliminate the possible damage of insects or fungi, on all in the pome and bone fruit trees that are the most sensitive.
When to spray the fruit trees?
In spring, when there is abundant growth of fruit, trees and berry bushes, they should be protected against harmful mites, aphids and caterpillars. Spraying the fruit trees is an effective and relatively safe way to control insects and some diseases that affect fruit trees spray a few blows of insecticide spray with a pressure of up to 6 bar.
